Midjourney V8.1 — default model since June 10, 2026 (released April 30, 2026). 4-5x faster than previous versions. Smarter prompt reading, better text rendering, HD mode for 2K images without upscaling (costs 1.3 GPU minutes vs 0.8 for SD). V8.0 Alpha still available at alpha.midjourney.com. No free plan. Also building Midjourney Medical: full-body ultrasound scanner with Butterfly Network (first Midjourney Spa in San Francisco 2027, target 50,000 scanners by 2031).
